The Most Reliable and Efficient Compressed Air Supply for New Facilities

Koremans Groep is one of the authorised Naili dealers in the Netherlands. Thanks to the expertise of Koremans Groep in cooperation with Q Plus, Antwerpse Staal Services requested the most reliable and efficient compressed air solution for a new-build expansion of their production facility. Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) was a key factor in this project.

Easy-to-Maintain Vane Compressor

One of the main advantages of a vane compressor compared to other technologies is its mechanical simplicity. This makes maintenance work quick and easy. In addition, with very few wear-sensitive parts, the first savings in TCO are easily achieved.

Cascade Setup for Lower Energy Consumption

Significant energy savings can also be achieved. Because compressor oil does not require a long cooling-down period, idle running time (unloaded operation) is negligible compared to, for example, a screw compressor. In this case, three smaller 7.5 kW compressors were installed in cascade instead of one large 22 kW compressor.

The consumption analysis revealed that a capacity of 22 kW was only needed during occasional peak situations; at all other times of the day, 15 kW proved more than sufficient.

This setup not only saves energy but also creates a built-in back-up. Since demand usually requires only two compressors, one unit is always available as reserve. The cascade control ensures equal running hours across all compressors, spreading maintenance costs evenly. Should future expansion be required, the system can be scaled up modularly to a maximum of 16 compressors. In conclusion: an energy-efficient solution with low TCO and high redundancy.

Compressed Air Distribution and Conditioning

In addition to the consumption analysis, the required compressed air quality was determined in accordance with ISO8573-1:2010, along with the desired location within the building, necessary buffer capacity, and distribution to the points of use. Based on this, Koremans Groep carried out the installation of the complete technical room and piping network.

Alongside the required floor space, sufficient intake air and exhaust of heated cooling air were ensured by custom-built ventilation ducts.

In addition to the three Naili AB 7.5 kW compressors, the installation includes the necessary base filtration (cyclone filter, coarse filter, fine filter), an adsorption dryer, and a 900-litre buffer tank.

To connect all these components, the AluSic piping system was used.
