The installer originally used a galvanised steel system, which would have required 2,100 hours of installation time. To reduce costs, an alternative solution was sought.
The installation of the AluSic aluminium piping system for this project – comprising more than 1,000 metres of piping – was completed in just 800 hours. This resulted in enormous time savings and a major reduction in labour costs. Although the AluSic system has a slightly higher material cost compared to galvanised steel components, the installer’s overall costs were cut by more than half.
The installation team, long accustomed to working with galvanised steel systems, was highly enthusiastic. The simple installation method, which eliminates the need for heavy tools, was seen as a major step forward.
Other advantages include the low weight of the pipes and their corrosion resistance. With a system spanning more than a kilometre, a lightweight aluminium solution makes the work considerably easier. The aluminium system also allows for a neater and more refined installation – all achieved with reduced labour time.
“Galvanised steel is now a thing of the past.”
