The GAN series is a single- or multi-passage rotary joint mounted on a shaft. This is typically used where mounting on the shaft end is not possible. It is a high-pressure rotary joint for swivel and rotary applications, suitable for oil, water, air, and vacuum at low speeds. Available in shaft sizes from 15 mm up to 200 mm, with larger versions possible.
The seal consists of a high-quality reinforced Teflon® glide ring on a hardened and polished rotating shaft (inner ring). The static housing seal is a pressure-activated O-ring in NBR, or in FKM upon request.
The standard version comes with an anodised aluminium housing and a steel rotating shaft. Depending on the application, both housing and shaft can be supplied in various materials — for example, both entirely in steel or in stainless steel 316. The bearing arrangement consists of two deep-groove ball bearings.
The maximum pressure is 250 bar for liquids and 12 bar for air. Higher pressures are possible. The permissible speed depends on medium, pressure, and shaft diameter. Heat dissipation from the seals on the shaft is much less effective with air, and especially with stationary air, than with oil or water. This limits the speed for air applications to swivel use or up to 50 rpm and lower, depending on size.
Most versions are made to customer specification and developed by us accordingly. Once the design has been reviewed and approved by the customer, pricing is requested from Turian. This ensures a very short lead time from request to quotation.
